A chartered doctoral physicist with commercial and academic experience
I am a chartered Ph.D. physicist currently working as an operations scientist for the SKA Observatory at Jodrell Bank, Manchester, UK. Previously I worked in industry as a scientist and optical designer developing imaging instruments for radiometric temperature measurement, and also as a research associate at Oxford University prototyping cutting edge instrumentation for the world's largest optical telescope.
Utilising a breadth of skills honed in both academic and commercial environments, I have the passion and aptitude for solving complex, multi-disciplinary problems. Be it optical design, data analysis, scientific software development, engineering, or a combination thereof, I can add value to a project at any stage in its lifecycle.

Scientific Software Development
With more than fifteen years combined academic and commercial programming experience, I have developed scientific software for use in a variety of different applications including scientific data processing and computer vision, and have extensive knowledge of a broad range of programming languages and DevOps tools including Python, C, C++, MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Docker and Kubernetes.
Optical Design
I am a Zemax certified advanced optical engineer with more than five years of experience in the design and tolerancing of visible, NIR and MIR lens systems. I can offer guidance at any stage of your process from inception to manufacturing specification, to ensure that the system you need is the system you get.
Data Science
As a Ph.D. physicist with over ten years of experience in undertaking peer-reviewed cutting edge scientific research, I have the ability to digest, interpret and visualise complex datasets in highly innovative and illustrative ways, offering you new insights in to your business.
Engineering
Having worked in a practical scientific environment for over ten years, I have accumulated broad experience in several engineering fields. I have over four years of mechanical CAD with Autodesk Inventor, and have designed and toleranced numerous parts for CNC manufacture and 3D printing. I also have a certification in electronics engineering with a solid working knowledge of digital PCB design.
